More heavy rainfalls set to continue throughout week
Spokesperson for the Weather Service Jacqueline Modika says residents must be vigilant.
The South African Weather Service says there is a 60% chance of showers in the north of Pretoria and 30% for the rest of the province.
Several houses were damaged and trees uprooted on Monday in areas, including Ennerdale and parts of Soweto on Monday night.
Emergency Services officials had their hands full on Monday night attending to a number of incidents, mostly in the south of Joburg where heavy rains damaged houses and uprooted trees.
The weather services say they expect an 80% chance of rain in some parts of Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.
Temperatures are expected to reach a sweltering 35 degrees in some parts of this province along with strong winds and dry weather.
An alert for thunderstorms has been issued for the weekend with possible hail storms today.
The wet conditions are expected to continue until Saturday with clear skies predicted for Sunday.
The Weather Service says it received reports of floods in the southern and eastern parts of the province.
