• EXCLUSIVE: The unsafe building Joburg firefighters are being forced to live in

Eyewitness News visited the old Johannesburg Central fire station and discovered that firefighters were staying in the building which was declared unsafe last year. The City of Johannesburg are aware of this as the firefighters are paying rent to them. EWN can also reveal that 231 of Johannesburg's firefighters have been suspended for participating in an illegal strike. But three of the firefighters deny this, saying that they were only abiding by the rules of the National Health Act, which stipulates that they need to be accompanied by a supervisor when called out to a scene. The identities of the firefighters have been protected.
