    First tweet fetches $2.9mln at auction

    Fifteen years ago Dorsey typed out a banal message -- 'just setting up my twttr' -- which became the first ever tweet, launching a global platform that has become a controversial and dominant force in civil society.

    Twitter founder's auction of a tweet draws $2 million bid

    The top bid on Saturday for Dorsey's tweet -- $2 million -- came from Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, a platform for blockchain, the technology underlying cryptocurrencies. He also heads the BitTorrent streaming platform.

    Facebook bans Trump 'indefinitely' for inciting violence

    Mark Zuckerberg said a one-day ban imposed on Donald Trump's accounts on Facebook and Instagram was extended because of Trump's "use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government".

    US senators to grill big tech CEOs on legal immunity

    Jack Dorsey of Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook - summoned alongside Sundar Pichai of Google parent Alphabet - said proposed reforms could lead to more harmful and abusive content online, and would limit rather than expand free expression.
