Blitzboks win in Seville for fourth straight Sevens World Series title
The Blitzboks were made to work for the victory but four second-half tries saw them to a comfortable 33-7 win over Australia.
The Blitzboks claimed a dominant 38-5 victory over Kenya in the early hours of Monday morning, making them strong favourites for the second leg of the series in Edmonton, Canada from 25-26 September.
Rugby Union's governing body also delayed a string of other sevens competitions and placed the Olympic Games repechage qualification tournament under review.
Justin Geduld, Chris Dry and Zain Davids are being rested after featuring in all four tournaments so far with Ryan Oosthuizen, Kurt-Lee Arendse and Mfundo Ndhlovu all returning to action.
The Australasian leg of the World Series will be played in Hamilton next weekend (25-26 January) and in Sydney a week later (1-2 February).
The fun begins on Friday, 13 December, with gates opening at 1pm, with all 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams in action on the opening day.
The 32-year-old Brown made his debut for the Blitzboks in the 2008/09 season in Dubai and also captained the side for two seasons, with his last stint as skipper coming in Singapore in 2018.
