The trial was due to begin on Monday but was postponed after it emerged that three of the accused hadn't paid their advocate.
The eight men face charges of murder, attempted murder, extortion for their alleged creation of a syndicate and also illegally collecting money from community members.
The commission investigated murders that have taken place in KwaZulu-Natal since 2011 including deaths at the notorious Glebelands hostel.
The pair is among a group of suspects linked to the Glebelands killings which took place at the hostel between August 2014 and March 2016.
The 38-year-old man will join seven others, who failed to make bail last week, also linked to the Glebelands killings.

Glebelands hostel has been the scene of many killings in the last year and one of the most shocking crimes there was two murders which took place within minutes of each other in July.
The man was found in possession of a gun with its serial number erased, five live rounds of ammunition rounds from the firearm and a short knife.

Mondli Mthethwa has been wanted for his alleged involvement in at least two cases of murder in the hostel, including where a woman was gunned down in her room at the hostel in August last year.
The suspect was initially charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
KZN police say they believe the suspect is linked to the murder of Tholakele Ngcangcatha, who was shot and killed at the hostel about four months ago.
