DA leadership candidate Ntuli says virtual elective congress won't be credible
Last week, the party's federal executive council resolved to hold the online congress on 31 October this year.
Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba announced his resignation from the Democratic Alliance (DA), saying the party that emerged from the past weekend’s Federal Council was not the organisation he signed up for.
It’s not a secret that Mmusi Maimane and Zille haven’t seen eye to eye in recent years. However, after her appointment on Sunday, the former leader said she would give Maimane space to do his work.
The gathering, at Nkululeko House, has seen discussions on several issues, including the organisation’s renewal report compiled by former party leader Tony Leon among others.
Helen Zille, Athol Trollip, Mike Waters and Thomas Walters are in the race for the powerful position.
The DA’s Federal Council is being described as a watershed moment even by party members.
