Maverick De Kock promises a street-smart approach as ODI skipper

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who has replaced Faf du Plessis as skipper of the 50-over team, said his style of leadership will be just like his unorthodox performances with the bat – where tends to mix magical creativity with an occasional lack of discipline.

Paterson could make Test debut as SA mull options

Paterson, 30, has previously played limited overs internationals for South Africa and captain Faf Du Plessis hinted he could be in line for a Test debut, though he stressed no decision had been made yet.

Du Plessis disagrees with officials on four-day Tests

'I understand that a lot of money is being burnt on five-day cricket because so many Test matches are not going five days. People will sit 50-50 on it. My personal opinion is that I am still a purist of the game because I have been part of some great draws that went five days.'

Proteas skipper warns team about complacency

The 107-run victory in the first Test in Pretoria on Sunday arrested a run of five successive test defeats for South Africa but any thoughts that the players might have about being back on course must be dispelled, Faf du Plessis said.
