Factory explosion
Union wants 'reckless' Denel to take full responsibility for explosion
Several other workers were injured in Monday’s explosion.
It comes amid a drive to strengthen industrial safety, with China ramping up checks over the last year, in the wake of some high-profile incidents at coal mines and chemical plants.
It’s unclear what caused the blast on Tuesday night.
The explosion occurred on a supply line connecting a harbour and a tank depot on the Ludwigshafen site.
In addition, six people are still missing, the Ludwigshafen site’s chief, Uwe Liebelt.
Paramedics say two of the injured had to be airlifted to hospital after they were treated on the scene.
Emergency services says residents have nothing to worry about following a blast in the Waltloo area.
iWitness Nigel Williams sent us photos of the fire, taken from a neighbouring building.
