Sharp rise in petrol and diesel price from Wednesday
The Energy Department stated that this was as a result of increases in the average international product prices for petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin.
Both grades of petrol will be going down by 13 cents per litre on 2 December.
There have been significant fuel price reductions over the past few months due to a plummet in oil prices.
The Automobile Association said it expected fuel prices to decrease further because of a steady decline in international oil prices.
Both grades of petrol go down by 13 cents a litre and diesel goes down by between 14 and 16 cents.
The AA is predicting petrol will increase by at least 10 cents a litre while diesel will go up by about 25 cents a litre.
In a statement released on Friday night, the department said would and paraffin would decrease.
Petrol will increase by up to R1.31 a litre while diesel will cost up to R0.82 more a litre more.
The Energy Department has announced that prices will remain unchanged for November while there will be a steep increase for diesel which goes up by between 48 and 51 cents.
Diesel will go up by between 47 cents and 50 cents per litre and or illuminating paraffin will go up by 37 cents.
From the stroke of midnight on Wednesday, car drivers will have to fork out up to R1 more for a litre of petrol, while diesel will cost you R1.24 more.
The upcoming fuel hike is expected to be the highest single increase South Africa has ever experienced.
Motorists will pay 30 cents less for petrol, while diesel will be 17 cents cheaper per litre.
Fares will be increasing by an average of 7% due to soaring fuel costs.
