The Minister had stood firmly behind the soldiers, but she now promised to comply with the recommendations of the ombudsman after it found the soldiers had acted improperly and in violation of the SANDF code of conduct.
Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said that she only found out from the media on Wednesday night that the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), in a report, cleared four officers accused of killing Collins Khosa in April.
Mapisa-Nqakula and other ministers in the peace and security cluster were responding to questions in the National Council of Provinces on Tuesday.
