Temperatures expected to drop below zero as cold snap grips Gauteng
The South African Weather Service forecast a cool day in Gauteng, while temperatures were expected to drop below zero degrees from Wednesday.
Parts of the Western Cape could be covered in snow on Monday night. In Gauteng, temperatures will dip to a minimum of zero degrees from Tuesday.
The South African Weather Services is warning Gauteng residents that they should brace themselves for more cold conditions.
The weather service says for the next few days the maximum temperatures in Gauteng will hover between 11 and 14 degrees.
Temperatures in the Western Cape and the Northern Cape are expected to drop significantly over the next 24 hours with heavy rain, strong winds, flooding and possible snowfall.
On Friday the South African weather service warned of a sharp drop in temperatures from Monday, 25 May 2020 due to the snowfall in Lesotho and the Free State.
Community leaders said that residents were in need of donations of blankets, clothes, school stationery and food.
The South African Weather Service said temperatures would become cooler towards the end of the week.
The utility is currently experiencing capacity constraints because of the cold weather.

Today is the coldest day of the cold front in Johannesburg, which will start improving from the weekend.
