Prasa extends loan to Autopax to pay staff salaries
Autopax operates long-distance buses City to City and Translux and is a subsidiary of Prasa.
Bus drivers were only notified on Friday that they’d receive 50% of their wages on Monday.
The company which operates Translux and City to City buses has been battling cash flow problems and to meet its operational demands.
Bus drivers refused to report for work due to an unforeseen salary deduction on their Sunday overtime rates.
It’s understood they embarked on the industrial action after management refused to pay them before Christmas Day.
AutoPax buses were taken to a testing station after the drivers failed to produce required permits.
Most of the passengers making their way home for the Christmas weekend are still stranded.
