Court dismisses CemAir bid to overturn decision to ground its operations
This follows another South African Civil Aviation Authority resolution earlier this month to ground the carriers' flights, citing safety concerns.
The Aviation Authority says the second suspension, in as many months, has been necessitated by concerns over the systemic failure of the airline’s maintenance controls.
The CAA based its decision to revoke CemAir’s operating licence on the fact that the airline did not provide sufficient measures to address shortcomings in its Corrective Action Plan.
The CAA last week grounded the carrier’s aircraft over issues surrounding their luggage weight limits.
The South Gauteng High Court on Tuesday ruled that the domestic airline can resume flights, following a South African Civil Aviation Authority decision to ground its operations.
The CAA last week suspended the airline's operating licence after finding it contravened legislation and aviation regulations.
The CAA took the decision to suspend the airline for 24 hours because it did not have an operations manager in place.
SACAA’s aviation safety executive Simon Segwabe says the latest issue relates to the company not having a flight operations manager.
This follows the company’s failure to submit credible proof of compliance to the aviation authority.
