US House approves bill to widen marijuana research
The bill, passed in a bipartisan voice vote, allows authorized researchers access to parts of cannabis plants grown under state programs.
The "no" vote gained 50.7% support, compared to 48.4% in favour of legalisation, the New Zealand Electoral Commission said.
Fields of Green for All's Suresh Patel said that the bill contradicted the 2018 Constitutional Court ruling regarding private use.
The draft Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill is currently open for public comment.
