    Former British prime minister David Cameron launched a blistering attack on the UK's current leader Boris Johnson in extracts of his memoirs published Sunday, accusing him of only backing Brexit to further his own career.

    Boris Johnson slammed the opposition for voting against his call for a snap poll next month, in the final minutes of a late-night debate ahead of a controversial five-week suspension of parliament called by the prime minister.

    Johnson threatens to purge rebel Brexit MPs from party

    A senior source in the whips office, responsible for party enforcement, said any Conservative lawmaker who votes against the government this week would be thrown out of the parliamentary party and banned from standing for the Conservatives in the next election.

    Thousands of protesters took to the streets of various towns and cities from late morning, with organisers - using the slogan #StopTheCoup - saying they hoped hundreds of thousands would take part.

    Labour plans to use parliament to thwart no-deal Brexit

    Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who became prime minister last month, enraged opponents of a no-deal Brexit on Wednesday by using a parliamentary mechanism to order the suspension of parliament for almost a month.
