Brazil stadium collapse
Germany thrash Brazil to reach finals
Germany defeated hosts Brazil by 7-1 in a one-sided World Cup semifinal on Tuesday.
The bridge is about 3km from the Mineirao Stadium where World Cup games are being played.
With less than 35 days to go until kick off, Brazil is still struggling to get their facilities ready.
The stadium is meant to host the opening match of this year’s World Cup.
To date seven workers have died building Brazil’s World Cup stadiums.
The Arena da Baixada is threatened with exclusion from the World Cup.
Brazil was convulsed by protests about the amount of money being spent to host the event.
Death and strike action added to Brazil’s troubled 2014 World Cup build up.
Fatal accidents have occurred in Manaus, Brasilia and most recently in Sao Paulo, where two people died.
The damaged space took 35 days to build, and it will take about twice that time to clear the wreckage.
Emergency officials had previously given conflicting information on the death toll.
