'There was a feeling of ecstasy' - CPO trombonist after performing with Andrea Bocelli
Cape Town experienced the magic of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli performing live on Wednesday night.
Dan Corder (in for CapeTalk's John Maytham) talks to trombonist James George about being on stage with the legendary tenor as part of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.
Capetonians had a chance at the experience of a lifetime when beloved Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli performed at the DHL Stadium on Wednesday.
Cape Town's own world-class musicians and singers were showcased during this magical performance - the international superstar was accompanied by the Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO).
Concertgoers were effusive in their comments on social media - 'a sensational evening' and 'an unforgettable performance' were just some of the descriptions.
'Well done, Cape Town! You truly pulled out all the stops...' wrote Premier Alan Winde on Facebook.
Dan Corder chats to CPO sub-principal trombonist James George, one of the star-struck musicians who shared the stage with Bocelli.
It was an experience beyond his wildest dreams, says George.
"It was actually quite surreal for me because the only access that I had to him until now has been recordings, and last night was the real deal."

While the CPO members are all seasoned professionals, George says his feeling ahead of the concert was one of 'I definitely wanted to bring my best'.
A highlight for the musician was the performance of 'Nessun dorma' where the trombone has a big part to play in the aria's climactic moment.
Orchestra members were on a high at the end of the performance, he says.
"I think it was kind of like ecstasy."
