Table Mountain National Park's management plan received a score of 75% in an independent assessment.

This assessment was conducted by Conservation Outcomes, a biodiversity non-governmental organisation supporting the development and management of land for biodiversity conservation of nature. The organisation is also a part of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (ICUN).

Louw explains that the mountain's management plan happens in 10 year-cycles and includes plans around responsible tourism, effective management, biodiversity, and more.

While this assessment is positive, it comes amid what Table Mountain National Park calls a "misleading petition issued by a group of stakeholders who are opposed to the current management of Table Mountain National Park," because of the increasing crime incidents, notes Ford.

"Table Mountain National Park doesn't have fences, it's an open access park. So, when we discuss the issue of how to deal with the crime on Table Mountain, we need to link it to how we're dealing with crime in the overall City..."
