Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa is seeking approval from Treasury to build a new 2500MW nuclear power station.

Eskom will likely operate the plant, as it has experience running Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.

The power station will likely take between eight and 10 years to build.

Lekalakala says it is surprising that Ramakgopa is going ahead with this.
