Police investigating murder of high school learner in Philippi

CAPE TOWN - Police are investigating the murder of a high school learner in Philippi.
 
The shooting happened in Samora Machel on Thursday afternoon.
 
It's believed the matriculant had left school moments before the gun attack.
  
"Samora Machel detectives searched the crime scene for clues, where a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed on Thursday, 15 June," said the police's Joseph Swartbooi.

"Information at our disposal suggests that the boy was returning from school when an unknown assailant opened fire, fatally wounding the victim."
 
No arrests have yet been made and the motive for the attack is unknown.
