Police have packet of chips suspected of poisoning and killing 10-year-old girl

JOHANNESBURG - Police are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a 10-year-old girl in Alexandra who allegedly died after eating chips, purchased from a spaza shop.
Lesedi Maaboi was rushed to a local clinic after complaining about chest pains on Saturday.
She died soon after arriving at the clinic.
Her four-year-old brother and mother were admitted to hospital after they displayed the same symptoms, having eaten the chips as well.

Police are in possession of the chips packet at the centre of the investigation.
Lesedi's father, Joshua, said that after his daughter's death, he handed the chips packet to the police.
He said that his wife and four-year-old son are expected to be discharged from hospital soon.
"After eating the chips her mother was complaining about her stomach, but she didn't take note until Lesedi started feeling pain."
Officials from the Gauteng government will visit the family on Monday.
