TUT dominate Varsity Football finals

TUT made it a clean sweep in the finals of Varsity Football as both the womens and mens teams claimed come from behind victories. The women were 2-1 winners over UWC to claim a 5th title, while there male counterparts put the disappointed of last years final behind them, beating Wits 2-1. EWN's Ahmed Kajee and Michael Pedro bring you all the action from both games and caught up with the winning captains and coaches.

TUT & UWC to battle it out for Women’s Varsity Football title

In a weekend special of Pitchside Podcast, Ahmed and Mike were in Potchefstroom for the weekend tournament of the Women’s Varsity Football. Teams from across the country were represented with the Gauteng teams making the biggest impact; UJ, TUT & TUKS three of the four teams in the semis. Ahmed and Mike review a weekend characterized by brilliant football. 

Varsity Sports Women’s Football kicks off in Potch

The women’s rounds of the 2018 Varsity Football season kick off in Potchefstroom, at the North West University today. This is the first season the games will be televised as TUT will hope to defend their crown in another exciting weekend of football.  Ahmed Kajee and Michael pedro caught up with the captains to get their thoughts heading into the weekend.  Follow @ewnsport throughout the weekend for rolling up dates. 

Derby-day in both semi-finals of the 2018 Varsity Football season

Tuks hosted TUT in a repeat of the 2017 final whilst UJ hosted Wits in Soweto. Ahmed Kajee and Michael Pedro look at how those games went down in the north and south of Gauteng. TUT & TUKS win to set up derby day semi-finals

In the final round of Varsity Football 2018, NWU needed to win and hope other results went their way to secure a spot in the semis. UKZN & UL battled it out for, what would be, their first and only wins of the season. Ahmed and Mike caught up with Wits goalkeeper Matthew Carelse, who is in his first year of Varsity Football and Clinton Mphahlele who has recently joined the team after playing at Tuks for the last 2 seasons.  

Wits confirm last 4 spot with win over UL, Battle for top heats up

In this episode of Pitchside Podcast, Ahmed and Michael take a look at round 6 of Varsity Football 2018. Big results for Wits who now sit in second with one group game to go. They have confirmed their semi final berth. Michael and Ahmed speak to first year student from NWU - Banele Hlophe - about the transition from high school to varsity and balancing football in the process. UJ beat TUT to solidify top spot. Wits move up to second.

TUT beat NWU to help UJ go joint-top

Round 4 of Varsity Football  saw a Gauteng Derby - Wits hosting Tuks in the feature game with a drawn result. NWU went down to TUT while UJ managed to edge UKZN as they lead the table on Goal Difference. UWC got their first win of the campaign when they thrashed UL 7-0. Ahmed Kajee & Michael pedro caught up with Tuks winger, Richard Moremi about being in the Varsity Football session since inception in 2013.
