Planets align to form a 'smiley face' moon on Friday 25 April
Even the sky's smiling for payday...
CapeTalk's Clarence Ford speaks to Barbara Friedman, Digital Content Editor of Primedia Plus, about trending online stories.
The planets will align to form a smiley face moon (just in time for payday, for some).
According to NASA, on Thursday 24 April and Friday 25 April, Venus, Saturn, and the crescent moon will gather low in the east just above the moon before sunrise, forming a 'smiley face.'
The crescent moon will form the 'smile/mouth,' while Venus and Saturn make the 'eyes.'
Spotting the 'smiley face' depends largely on timing.
For best sightings of it in South Africa, look towards the eastern horizon about an hour before sunrise, that's around 5:30am (local time) on Friday 25 April.
Happy sighting!
"Those people that love to look at our sky seem to be quite clear that's it's going to be a glowing smiley emoji in the sky... I'm not quite sure it's going to be the right way up... it could be like a sidewise smiley face? Put your head to the side but maybe go and have a look and let us know on Friday if you saw the glowing smiley."
