Shortages of non-dairy baby formula, such as soy or rice-based formulas, have left many parents scrambling to find alternatives.
Consumer journalist Wendy Knowler explained that many may assume a recent, large-scale recall is driving the shortage, but it is actually due to supply chain issues.

She noted that the conflict in the Middle East has severely delayed imports.
“This [specific product shortage] has nothing to do with the recall…. It has to do with the conflict in the Middle East.”
Knowler reported that Dischem and Clicks have confirmed that a shipment of formula is expected to arrive soon, with retailers working to restock their shelves.
“It is a problem, but the end is in sight. I would certainly check my nearest store first,” she said.
