JOHANNESBURG – There is no better place to spend time with people you cherish while bonding over things you love than at Comic Con Africa.
Sugashna (Sigyn) Govender, who will be attending her first-ever Comic Con Africa this weekend, said it would be an opportunity for her to reconnect with family.
"The event has given me the opportunity to reunite with my sister and niece, whom I haven't seen in nearly three years. There's no better time to spend the Con weekend than with the people you cherish while bonding over the things you love," said Govender.
She told Eyewitness News that she was looking forward to finding herself in the heart of the Artist Alley.
"There's something special about being around and engaging with fellow artists. I'll be challenging my friends at the gaming area, and hopefully, if our plans work out, getting to meet Joe Manganiello."

Taking place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec) from 26 to 29 September, the event promises to be a vibrant meeting point of art, creativity and fandom.
"Comic Con Africa 2024 is the first Comic Con I finally get to attend. But speaking as someone deeply passionate and enthusiastic about the pop culture and creative industry, I'm incredibly excited to be in a place where other like-minded individuals like myself get to connect, network and express our love for the multitude of fandoms. To name a few: Harry Potter/ Wizarding World, Loki, WWE, Final Fantasy, which are my personal favourites!"
Having grown year after year, Comic Con Africa has cemented its place as a must-attend event for fans of all ages. Promising more exhibitors, larger-than-life experiences, and renowned global brands, the organisers say this will be the most impressive edition yet.

Govender told Eyewitness News that the coolest thing about cosplay was that it's open to all ages, and you did not need to be professional to attempt it. It's all about being creative, choosing a character that you resonate with, and adding your personal touches.
"I've been planning on doing a Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII Character) inspired cosplay for the event from items I currently own and found while shopping. The only thing I bought was a skirt and shoes to match. Other items were found in my closet and some were borrowed from my friends."
