Matric exams off to a smooth start - WCED

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Education said that the first day of the National Senior Certificate exams went off without a hitch.
More than 75,600 candidates will sit down to write their final exams in the province this year.
One hundred and twenty-three papers will be written before the exams conclude on 27 November.
Provincial Education MEC David Maynier said that the matric exams got off to a smooth start, with nearly 67,000 candidates writing English Paper 3 on Monday.
"This is a testament to the excellent preparation of our school staff and officials in the run-up to the examinations."
The Computer Applications Technology practical exam gets underway on Tuesday morning, while candidates will write Business Studies on Wednesday morning.
As is the case every year, the subject with the most candidates writing is Mathematical Literacy.
More than 51,000 matriculants write Paper 1 on Friday, 1 November and Paper 2 on Monday, 4 November.
