[LIVE BLOG] Store doors shattered, fights break out: #BlackFriday shopping frenzy hits SA

Shoppers started queuing as early as 4am at some malls to be first in line to get their hands on deals.

In response to Vytjie Mentor's claim that the Guptas own a part of Takealot, the company has debunked this, calling it fake news.

Speaking of Takealot, their site is STILL down, 15 hours after launching their deals.

According to former ANC MP Vytie Mentor, the Guptas own a stake in Takealot.

It's reported that the Gupta's own/have a stake in TAKE-A-LOT. So next time you buy from them, know that you are supporting the Gupta Empire.

Black Friday is not over yet. Some who missed the morning mayhem are heading out with the afternoon crowd. Will they still find anything left

We see what you did there

R2000 saved. Now this is what we mean when we talk about a good deal.

Despite the technical issues and complaints, Takealot sales reportedly did very well today.

Discounted land, anyone?

Woolworths is apparently not letting customers use their trolleys in any other store apart from theirs. Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but with the crowds at Black Friday, the store needs to prioritise customers in its stores first.

Say it with us now; "don't burn the pockets, don't burn the pockets, don't burn the pockets!"

Clearwater Mall's head office has just told us the power is back. They don't know what caused the cut, and say there have been a few outages experienced over the week.

Shoppers queuing outside iStore Sandton City.

These lucky shoppers arrived at Checkers at 7:30am and are happy with their purchases. "Thank God I'm saving. I'll probably buy stuff again next year in March. Wow, I've saved a lot. I bough toiletries, food - things that I need."

Scenes from earlier this morning at Game Westgate. One or two shoppers took a tumble at the entrance.

A word of caution though, Black Friday deals at Game are mostly only available in store. Very few are actually purchasable online.

Game's online store seems to be handling traffic well, not many complaints so far. As for its physical stores, well...

Are the snaking queues, bumper-to-bumper traffic and jostles with other shoppers for items worth it? Take our Twitter poll to have your say.

It seems the Takealot site is back up. However, problems with checking out still persist.

Good deals or just bleh? Some shoppers think the deals aren't much to write home about

Takealot is trending for all the wrong reasons right now. It seems they still haven't sorted out the issues with their site 8 hours after deals launched.

Ready, set, shop! Early bird shoppers have been queuing since the crack of dawn at some malls across the country. Lines can be seen snaking down hallways outside big retail stores such as Game, Pick 'n Pay and Checkers.
