We now take you back to Cape Town...

EWN desk: "Thando Kubheka is in Pretoria, Thando what can you tell us?"

Thando Kubheka: "Women are now making their way to the Union Buildings where they will hand over their memorandum of demands to the Presidency..."

Moving to the Mother City now...

Gender non-conforming people continue to make their way to Curries Fountain...

Women have been urged to wear red and black today.

Woza, let's go to KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, where abafazi, abo mbokodo, gathered at Curries Fountain as a part of the nationwide shutdown.

Before we take you live to Pretoria, where our reporters are, take note of the streets that will be affected in the capital city:

Are men taking part? No. Why? Because #MenAreTrash , #MeToo ... Well the organisers of the march wanted to mark women's month by only including women in this march. Men can help by standing in for women at work among other things...

Where exactly are these marches taking place?

Women and non-gender conforming individuals are marching across the country today to raise awareness about abuse faced by women, children and the LGBTI community.

Recap of what we know...

Hello and welcome to EWN's live blog about the total shut down march. We will bring you updates from around the country as women take a stand against abuse.
