LIVE BLOG: Jacob Zuma to face corruption charges, court says

Former President Jacob Zuma is expected to know on Friday if his corruption case will be dismissed or if he will be prosecuted.

BREAKING: The Pietermaritzburg High Court has dismissed Zuma's application for permanent stay of prosecution with costs. This means he will go on trial.

Court proceedings are now under way.

Zuma’s lawyers told the court that he did not have the means to finance his corruption trial, that he had been prejudiced and suffered reputational damage by unreasonable trial delays and that the case against him was politically motivated.

Earlier this year, the former president argued in court why he wanted his case to be struck off the roll.

The Pietermaritzburg High Court will today deliver judgment in his application for a permanent stay of prosecution.

Zuma is facing charges of corruption, money laundering and racketeering related to the multi-billion-rand Arms Deal.

Hello and welcome to EWN's Live Blog on former President Jacob Zuma appearing in court today to find out if if his corruption case will be dismissed or if he will be prosecuted.
