LIVE BLOG: Meghan Markle and Harry tell all in Oprah interview

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan had scores to settle in their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday - but they also offered a generous glimpse of their 'fairytale' new family life far from the monarchy.

And that's it, the interview is done.

"He saved all of us. He made a call and saved us." Meghan says.

Meghan says her story with Harry is the greatest fairy tale you've ever read.

"All those thing I was hoping for have happened and this is what I wished for." Meghan says.

Meghan says her one regret is, "Believing them when they said I'd be protected."
"I wasn't supposed to see it. I wasn't supposed to know."

Harry says being able to go to the beach, going for walks is what he enjoys the most about his new life.

Harry said he was "hurt" by the Queen's decision to remove all royal patronages and honorary military titles — but her decision had nothing to do with Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview.
"But at the same time, I completely respect my grandmother's decision."

Harry and Meghan says they did call the Queen to ask about Phillip after he went to hospital.
"That's what we do, being able to default to not having to every moment go, 'Is that appropriate?'" Meghan told Oprah.

Harry says he's is extra loving life with Meghan, Archie, and their dogs are happy.

Harry says the relationship with his father needs a lot of work.

Harry says he has a great relationship with his grandmother, the Queen.

Harry says that the royal family cut him off financially in the first part of 2020, and he relied on what his mother left him.
"I think she saw it coming. I've got what my mum left me."

"My father and my brother are trapped." Harry says.

Harry said that he wouldn't have been able to leave the royal family without Meghan.
"I wouldn't have been able to, I, myself was trapped," he said, "Trapped within the system, like the rest of my family are [...]. They don't get to leave."

Meghan denied having orchestrated "Megxit," saying that she planned to be in the royal role forever.
"Can you imagine how little sense that makes?" she told Oprah. "I left everything because I love him."

Harry speaks of an "invisible contract" between the tabloids and the royal family, where the tabloids would be given full access in exchange for positive coverage.

Harry said that the royal family is scared of the tabloids turning on them — and it influenced them refusing to speak out on the racist abuse Meghan faced in the media.

"There was an opportunity for my family to support Meghan."

Harry says he was ashamed to tell his family that Meghan needed help.

Harry said his dad stopped talking his calls because he took matters into his own hands.

Harry said that he didn't blindside the Queen with news of their departure.
“I’ve never blindsided my grandmother, I have too much respect for her," Harry told Oprah. He says that he told the Queen numerous times about their upcoming announcement.

Did you blindside the Queen? Oprah asks.

Harry says his biggest concern was history repeating itself. "But with the added pressure of, racism and social media."

Harry said that the simplest reason that they left their positions in the family is because of a “lack of support and lack of understanding."

Harry says the palace took away their security, that's why they moved to America from Canada.

Meghan and Harry stayed with Tyler Perry. He offered them security and refuge in Los Angeles.

"Two is it." Harry and Meghan said they won't have any more kids.

Meghan and Harry revealed they are having a baby girl!!

Harry is in the house, make some noise!

Harry is about to join the interview....

"I don't know how they could expect how after all this time we could be silent when the firm is perpetuating all this about us. There's a lot that has been lost already. I've lost a baby. I've lost my father." Meghan says.

How do you feel about the palace hearing you speak your truth today? Oprah asks Meghan.

Meghan says when she saw this picture all she can remember was pain. She says she saw the knuckles of her hands and how Harry held her tightly.

"I couldn't just call an Uber. Or book myself into an institution." Meghan says.

Meghan said she had suicidal thoughts.

Meghan said that her mental health got so low, she contemplated suicide — but "the Institution" did not help her, despite her "begging."

"I just didn’t see a solution. I would sit up at night and I was just like I don’t understand how all this is being churned out," she said of the negative press attention she received.

Meghan says the British tabloids were so bad that her mental health was low.

Meghan says she can't name which members of the royal family said these things about Archie's skin colour.

Meghan says they were not asked to take the traditional picture after Archie was born.

Oprah is flabbergasted! She doesn't understand that Meghan was told her son wouldn't get security because he won't be a prince.

“I had been asking the institution for help for quite a long time," Meghan told Oprah. However, they weren't willing to "go on the record and negate" bad stories for her — even though they would do the same for "the most ridiculous story" for others.

Meghan said that she asked for help around the time of the couple's Australia tour.

Meghan says "Our job was to be on and to smile."

Back to the interview...

At this point, Oprah is shook!

There were also conversations with Harry about "how dark" Archie's skin would be...

Meghan and Harry were told that Archie wouldn't be a Prince and wouldn't receive any security.

"There was very little that I was allowed to do and that breeds loneliness." Meghan says.

She says one of the members of the firm told her to lay low because she was 'everywhere'.

"My understanding and experience is nothing like what it looks like [in the media]."

Meghan says the Queen made her feel warm and welcomed.

"Not only was I not being protected, but they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family — but they weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband." Meghan says.

Meghan said she initially went along with what the Firm wanted, as she thought they would protect her — only to discover the opposite was the case.

She says she was silenced. "We were always told to say 'no comment' and we'll protect you."

Oprah asks Meghan the challenges of coming into the monarchy as a divorcee, a mixed race woman and a working woman.

“They really seemed to want a narrative of a hero and a villain.” Meghan says.

Meghan said that there was a double standard in the media between her and Kate.
Remember the baby bump story between her and Kate?

She says the royal family knew the tabloids were lying but no one came out to dispel those rumours.

"What was hard to get over, was being blamed for things I didn't do..." Meghan told Oprah.

Meghan says it was over flower girl dresses.

“The reverse happened, and I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something,” Meghan told Oprah.

Meghan denied making Kate cry — and, in fact, says the opposite happened.

Shortly after the wedding, the tabloids started rumours that Meghan made Kate cry. She says that was her turning point. She denies making Kate cry.

"This spectacle is for the world, but we want our union between us," Meghan told Oprah. The framed vows in their home are from the private backyard ceremony between the couple and the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Harry and Meghan got married in private three days before the public ceremony.

Meghan now shows Oprah around their home. Shows her their dogs and chickens.

And we are back from the break.

The interview has gone on a break. Adverts, paying the bills...

"Lovely and easy — and thank god I hadn’t known a lot about the family, thank god I hadn’t researched, I would have been so in my head about it.” Meghan says.

Before Meghan met the Queen for the first time, Harry asked if she knew how to curtsey.

Meghan says the first meeting wasn't really formal.

Oprah asks Meghan what it was like meeting Harry's granny the Queen.

She says she knew nothing about the royals outside of the marriage.

“I’ve never looked up my husband online, I just didn’t feel a need to because everything I feel I needed to know he was sharing with me.” Meghan says.

Meghan said she went into the monarchy naively.

Meghan: We were both really aware that this wasn't our day but was a day planned for the world.

Oprah now recalls Meghan and Harry's wedding.

"You look lovely! Pregnant and lovely." Oprah tells Meghan.

Meghan is wearing a black flowing dress and Oprah congratulates her on her pregnancy.

Here we go!

The interview is about to start

Speaking of memes, let's get reaction from the Twitter streets:

Markle accused the British Royal Family of fretting over how dark her son's skin would be.

Prince Harry said he felt "really let down" by his father as he and wife Meghan opened up about quitting Britain over her harsh treatment by the British press and the lack of support from the royal family.

Alright some pointers from the interview coming up...
