The rain is coming down at OR Tambo but everyone is doing their part to ensure that it's offloaded and gets to its destination. 

While we wait for the president to receive the vaccines, let's go to the streets for comments:

The closely guarded vaccines will be transported to a facility in Johannesburg to be checked and cleared - after which they will be distributed to other provinces so that the rollout can begin.

It's raining at OR Tambo Airport but the vaccine is here, through the rain!

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize is part of President Ramaphosa's delegation to welcome the vaccines.

South Africa will receive 1 million doses for now and another 500,000 next month.

The vaccine was developed by Swedish-British company AstraZeneca last year and produced in India by the Serum Institute.

What do we know about this vaccine? Who made it?

A serious note though, this is the first step in the country's largest vaccine rollout programme which will be a historic one, where more than 1.2 million healthcare workers will be inoculated during the first phase.
