KZN disaster management teams remain on high alert as heavy rain pummels province

CAPE TOWN - Disaster management teams in KwaZulu-Natal remain on high alert as heavy rains continue to pummel parts of the province.
A Level 5 weather warning for significant rainfall accumulation is in effect for the districts of eThekwini, iLembe, uMgungundlovu, Ugu, and Harry Gwala.
A Level 4 weather warning for widespread showers and rain also remains in place for parts of uThukela, Amajuba, Harry Gwala, uMzinyathi, iLembe, King Cetshwayo, and the uMgungundlovu districts.

Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila: "The MEC for COGTA Thulasizwe Buthelezi has assured residents that disaster management teams will continue to be on alert and monitor the weather conditions. The ongoing rainfall continues to pose risk for the following impact: further flooding of roads and settlements, increased risk of damage to bridges, continued potential displacement of communities."
