Bafana Mahungela Senior claims his son is innocent and had nothing to do with the murder of Kluyts.
He says the DNA report from a forensic expert suggests his son’s DNA was not found on Kluyts.
Police have previously provided CCTV footage on the day of Kluyts’ murder, showing Mahungela’s son, Bafana Mahungela Junior, wearing Kluyts’ blue t-shirt and leaving George Lea Park in Parkmore.
"Even the DNA (report) states very clearly that the person who was in contact with the deceased is a foreign woman who is unknown."
The case has been postponed to next month to allow the state to provide his legal team with video evidence from the day of Kluyts’ murder.
