JOHANNESBURG - A joint funeral service will be held for the 11 learners who lost their lives in a scholar transport crash in Carletonville on Thursday.
The children died when a Ford Ranger bakkie rammed into the back of a minibus taxi they were travelling en route to school.
Thursday’s funeral service comes nearly a month after the incident.
A lengthy DNA identification process and police investigations delayed the families from burying their loved ones.
The horrific crash resulted in some of the victims burning beyond recognition, with family members unable to identify them with their naked eyes.
Various high-ranking government officials, including Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Education MEC Matome Chiloane, are expected to attend Thursday’s service.
