JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has confirmed that there will be no load shedding for the Easter long weekend.

The power utility said it had ramped up its planned maintenance programme to prepare for the anticipated increase in electricity demand as the colder season approaches.

Eskom also reports an overall improvement in power supply this year, with fewer outages compared to last year's unplanned capacity losses.

Spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, said the utility was working to ensure the grid remained stable throughout the long weekend.

"Emergency reserves are adequate and will continue to be utilised strategically to meet peak demand where necessary. Ongoing plan maintenance continues at 15.41% of generation capacity, marking a 3.8% increase compared to the same period last year."
