Early data points to drop in fuel prices

Despite the global market chaos, the latest data projects a drop in the price of diesel and petrol.

The Central Energy Fund’s latest report forecasts a decrease all around due to much weaker oil prices and a turnaround in the rand-to-dollar exchange rate. 

The mid-month projections: 

• Petrol 93 to decrease by 15 cents per litre
• Petrol 95 to decrease by 18 cents per litre
• Diesel 0.05% (wholesale) to decrease by 38 cents per litre
• Diesel 0.005% (wholesale) to decrease by 39 cents per litre
• Illuminating paraffin to decrease by 31 cents per litre

The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources will confirm the official pricing closer to the implementation date.
