Johannesburg Emergency Services on Monday suspended recovery efforts for two missing people, who were washed away by the river’s strong currents over the weekend, due to the overflowing body of water.

Although search efforts will continue on Tuesday morning, the family wants authorities to launch an investigation looking the circumstances around the incident.

Emergency services officials began their search on Sunday after the 18-year-old female and 21-year-old male were reported missing on Saturday.

It's understood that the 21-year-old male and 18-year-old female disappeared in the stream in the south of Johannesburg during a cleansing ceremony on Saturday.

Without giving too many details, Ramaphosa confirmed that the party is indeed looking into allegations levelled against a number of high-ranking ANC officials.
