ConCourt appointment was 'the biggest moment of my life' - Maya

JOHANNESBURG - Deputy Chief Justice Mandisa Maya told the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) how her appointment to the country’s highest court was “the biggest moment of her life”.
The JSC is interviewing Maya on Tuesday, to succeed current Chief Justice Raymond Zondo when he retires in August.

She has been put forward by President Cyril Ramaphosa as the sole nominee.
When her interview commenced, Zondo asked about her experience being appointed to the Constitutional Court - as deputy chief justice - in September 2022.
"Being appointed to that court - even if I had not been appointed in a leadership position - has to be … it’s the highest honour for someone in our line of business. That’s where I want to think everybody would want to end up before they retire. So, it was the biggest moment of my life to be appointed to that court - especially in a leadership position."
