JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams is in contention for the top individual prize in African football.

The nominees for the 2024 CAF (Confederation of African Football) Awards were announced on Thursday and Williams has been named on the shortlist for three including Player of the Year, which recognises the best footballer from the continent, Goalkeeper of the Year and Interclub Player of the Year, for his performances with his club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Williams, who is the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season, had a stellar year where his dazzling saves led Bafana to the bronze medal at AFCON (African Cup of Nations) in February while also helping Sundowns claim a 7th successive league championship as well as the inaugural African Football League title.

Sundowns have been nominated for the Club of the Year while Bafana are in line for the National Team of the Year prize and Hugo Broos is up for the Coach of the Year award.

The CAF Awards will take place on 16 December in Morocco.
