The Market Theatre and National Arts Festival will bring the gripping drama ‘Breakfast with Mugabe’ to Johannesburg from 16 July to 10 August.
It is inspired by reports of the former Zimbabwean president once privately seeking out the help of a white psychiatrist.
The play includes fictional imagining of conversations between the pair as they delve into grief, healing, faith, nationalism and legacy.
The thought-provoking piece sees Themba Ndaba portraying Mugabe and Gontse Ntshegang as his wife, Grace.
It is written by distinguished British playwright, Fraser Grace and directed by Ratladi.
“It is not only about Robert Mugabe, it is about reflecting and looking into the legacy, trauma and spiritual reckoning of our leaders.”
– Calvin Ratladi, Director
