Unisa assures students that registration, application concerns will be addressed
There have been a lot of complaints about poor service from the open distance learning institution.
Universities South Africa CEO said while the move might threaten access to education for many, the reduced number would ensure sustainability.

The research was conducted by the RTMC in collaboration with the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), and the University of South Africa (Unisa).
The appeal was brought by lobby group AfriForum after the High Court in Pretoria ruled in favour of Unisa’s English-only language policy.
Workers were demanding an increase of 9% while the university was offering 6.3%.
Unisa management said this strike, coupled with the ongoing demonstration by the South African Union of Students, has affected registrations for the 2020 academic year.
The South African Union of Students is leading the demonstration it wants funding for postgraduate students and the cancellation of historic debt.

Unisa said it hoped that renaming its buildings after struggle icons and black academics would show previously excluded students that they belonged at the institution.
University vice chancellor Mandla Makhanya said the renaming was part of transformation intended to instil dignity in students who may feel excluded by previous names.
Students at different campuses across the country were protesting since last week over various issues, including the quality of exam results.
The university received a tip-off from students that some of their counterparts had been able to access exam papers.
