Hagibis slammed into Japan on Saturday night, unleashing fierce winds and 'unprecedented' rain that triggered landslides and caused dozens of rivers to burst their banks.
Super Typhoon Hagibis is now projected to clip southeastern Japan, near Tokyo and Yokohama.
Typhoon Faxai, packing winds of up to 216 kilometres per hour, made landfall in Chiba just east of the capital before dawn, after barrelling through Tokyo Bay.
