The country's top performing matriculants attended an awards ceremony on 20 January 2022. Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga said a total of 897,163 pupils registered to sit for the NSC exams and the pass rate is 76.4%, an increase from 76.2% in 2020.
The 2021 NSC overall pass rate, with the progressed learners included, stands at 76.4% – an improvement of 0.2% from the pass rate achieved by the Class of 2020.
