7 police officers arrested for allegedly extorting money from 2 CT businesses

CAPE TOWN - Seven public order police officials are behind bars for allegedly extorting money from two shops owned by Chinese nationals in Milnerton, Cape Town.
Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said that the members, who were arrested on Sunday night, allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the shop owners for protection money.
"After the incident was reported to police, members of the anti-corruption unit and provincial detectives acted swiftly and apprehended the suspects in Milnerton while they were on duty. As the investigation unfolds, leads are pursued to identify more suspects who also be arrested."
