Postbank has announced a final deadline for the replacement of the remaining gold cards with the new Postbank black cards.

Beneficiaries have until 31 August 2026 to migrate to the new black card or risk losing access to their grant payments.

Postbank Chief Commercial Executive Thami Cele said the old cards will no longer operate once the deadline has lapsed.

She explained that the new black cards will be valid for four years, offer better security and efficiency, with no banking costs.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to visit a Postbank site, such as a Pick n Pay or a Boxer Store, with their ID document.

“We don’t change. You don’t have to change your banking or payment method. Your money will continue to go into your account.”

Cele warns against scammers who are looking to take advantage of unsuspecting victims.

SASSA has been alerted to fake cards being distributed and some alleged operators charging for replacement cards.

“If it doesn’t have a Postbank logo on it, then it’s not a Postbank card. And if you’re getting it outside of the sites we’ve announced, then it’s not a Postbank card either,” she said.
