The Public Servants’ Association (PSA) has expressed grave concern over the ongoing killing of police officers, calling for immediate intervention to safeguard law enforcement personnel.

The union’s demand follows a recent ambush in Ngangelizwe, Eastern Cape, which resulted in the death of one officer and left another in critical condition.

According to a statement released by the PSA, this incident is a stark reflection of growing lawlessness and represents a broader, disturbing pattern of attacks directed at police officers across South Africa.

PSA spokesperson Thami Makuzeni has called for the urgent formation of a dedicated provincial task team to investigate the attack. Makuzeni emphasised the need for swift justice, stating that the perpetrators must be apprehended within a week.
