Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya has reiterated that her corruption-accused deputy, Eugene Modise, remains under internal investigation to determine his future in office.

Modise, who serves as the African National Congress (ANC) Regional Leader and Deputy Mayor, is accused of benefiting from a company that allegedly received an irregular security tender.

The contract in question was awarded to 22 different companies, including one owned by Modise, despite being flagged as irregular multiple times before the tender was officially granted.

While Mayor Moya has faced public criticism for not taking immediate action against her deputy, she maintains that the administration is following due process. She confirmed that the council will soon reach a definitive decision regarding the allegations.

"When the allegations came up, we are the ones who commissioned an investigation," Moya stated. "That investigation has gone to the council and has come back. An ad-hoc committee was established, and the work is with that committee."
