Scores of schoolchildren injured in Boksburg crash

Scores of schoolchildren have been injured in a crash in Boksburg on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services said a collision between a bakkie and a minibus taxi transporting pupils happened on the R554 in Rondebult.

Authorities said all injured occupants were stabilised at the scene before being transported to various hospitals.

The City of Ekurhuleni's Tikkie Macdonald has urged motorists to be cautious on the road.

“The impact resulted in multiple casualties, with injuries ranging from critical to minor. Fighters and paramedics were on scene within minutes to secure the area. Remarkably, despite the severity of the collision, no fatalities were reported at the scene.”
