Western Cape Education Department (WCED) officials will soon decide whether six of the eight Milnerton High School learners charged with various counts of assault should be expelled.
The department confirmed that the school's governing body (SGB) made recommendations for the six learners to be expelled following a disciplinary hearing.
WCED spokesperson Bronagh Hammond said the disciplinary hearing concluded in December.
"The disciplinary committee of the school recommended the expulsion of six learners with one outcome still to be determined. The recommendation documents were sent to the WCED last week and will now be considered by the head of department of the Western Cape Education Department," Hammond said.

Hammond added that a sanction was provided for one of the accused pupils who was not recommended for expulsion.
"The affected learners are attending online classes and special arrangements have been made regarding the submission of tasks, assessments and homework."
Six of the accused, who are Grade 12 learners, appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, while two underage learners facing the same charges appeared in a courtroom for minors.
