Johannesburg police have confirmed that three people have died following a shootout between officers and suspected robbers.
The incident occurred on Wednesday on the N12 near Nasrec, and the area has since been closed off to traffic.
Police are currently on scene, and motorists are advised to steer clear of the area.
" All lanes are closed on the N12 West due to the crime scene. Law enforcement and emergency services are on scene, and the closure is causing heavy delays in the area, said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
